Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore Review

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is the third installment of the Fantastic Beasts series in the wizarding world of Harry Potter. It opens in theaters April 15th!

Score: 3.5 out of 5

Rating: PG-13
Runtime: 2hrs 16mins

No spoilers!!!

Wowsers…it is so nice to be back in theaters seeing quality films come to life on the big screen, the CGI is amazing. This movie is every reason to get out and head to a theater this spring as it is a visual delight. It redeemed the shortcomings of the 2nd film, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Grindelwald is now played by actor, Mads Mikkelsen having replaced Johnny Depp. Mikkelsen brings a depth of evil to his character that Depp could not. The very intense opening scene between Dumbledore (Jude Law) is much more believable with Mikkelsen. There are a few secrets exposed in this film…but none will make you spit out your butterbeer in surprise.

The film, however, left a lot on the table, the magic was here and there, but true Potter fans will find it lacking. We were given some fan service midway through the film but it lacked the Potter magic. Newt Scamander, our beloved quirky magizoologist, took much more of a backseat to the storyline as Dumbledore was the main character driving the plot. I would have preferred a little more of Newt and Theseus. The scene with them in the prison dancing with the scorpion-like beasts was one of the best scenes in the whole film. And muggle sidekick, Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) was superb in his role as always providing comic relief.

The beasts (animals) themselves were part of the film, as the rare quilin played an important role, but there were some hard to watch scenes and not enough beasts in a fantastic beasts film.

Jude Law did a great job developing our understanding of a younger Albus Dumbledore, who we learn has been hit with lots of painful experiences in his life. I enjoyed the storyline for the most part. And with a supposed two more prequel films to go, we can only hope they can continue to improve.

Synopsis:
Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) is moving to seize control of the Wizarding World. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches, and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald's growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?

The Kid Who Would Be King - A Modern Day King Arthur Tale Fit For Kids {Our Review}

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

The Kid Who Would Be King arrives in theaters January 25th!

*No Spoilers*

Score: 4 out of 5

Rating: PG for fantasy action violence, scary images, thematic elements including some bullying and language
Runtime: 2hrs

Synopsis
Old school magic meets the modern world in the epic adventure THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING. Alex (Ashbourne Serkis) thinks he's just another nobody, until he stumbles upon the mythical Sword in the Stone, Excalibur. Now, he must unite his friends and enemies into a band of knights and, together with the legendary wizard Merlin (Stewart), take on the wicked enchantress Morgana (Ferguson). With the future at stake, Alex must become the great leader he never dreamed he could be.

Review

The Kid Who Would Be King is set in modern day England. The plot is set around Alex (Louis Ashbourne Serkis) and a group of kids from school; two foes/bullies and his closest friend. It is a modern day Sword and the Stone story and can be very predictable for adults in the audience. With that said, it is perfect film for the tween generation that haven't had a non-cartoon version of this story recently. The film is remenicent of Lord of The Rings meets Goonies quest. Kids will find it entertaining. My 11yr old thought it was, "the best movie he'd ever seen". I think the cinematic elements are just right as well, there are some scarier parts, but they will be handled quite well by the mainstream kids 8 yrs old and up. My 6yr old is sensitive to sad parts usually, but handles fighting ok as he has seen most Marvel movies and he was just fine with this one. There aren't any blood and gore scenes to worry about, it was lots of dark shapes and fire instead. Their quest is one of legends and it was nice to see Patrick Stewart (Merlin) in this role. The message is great for kids too dealing with courage, loyalty, perseverance, teamwork and so much more. It does drag a bit towards the end, but it is entertaining and the kids will love it!

This dish is simply delish...they hit the name right on the head with this one, it is Wei Better! You can taste the freshness, the orange citrus flavor combined with the sweetness in the sauce makes this one tasty meal. There is a little kick to it, but very mild.

Celebrate National Coffee Day with Community Coffee's Pumpkin Praline and/or Southern Bread Pudding Fall Flavors - Our Review!

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Community Coffee Company is a quality brand that you will love. If you aren't familiar with their brand, let me tell you a little about them. They are a family owned coffee brand that has been in business since 1919. They are committed to a superior cup of coffee and after 4 generations still adhere to that responsibility. This fall they have two unique flavors currently available right now, Pumpkin Praline and Southern Bread Pudding. Celebrate National Coffee Day with one of these flavors available in ground coffee and/or k-cups.

Pumpkin Praline was the perfect blend to drink this morning with my neighbors and family on the front porch. The air is getting a bit cooler and crisp with each day that passes. We have hung the fall decorations and are ready for the season. I am a pumpkin fan...and while the craze is in full force with everything pumpkin spice this coffee is unique. It is a medium roast with hints of pumpkin spice to it...think nutmeg, ginger and all spice but with a hint of light sweetness and an aroma of pecan. It isn't overwhelming, you gotta try this!

Southern Bread Pudding made a great cup of joe for our afternoon coffee time. Growing up in New Orleans where a huge part of the population are heavy coffee drinkers, this past time was just part of the culture. Front porch sitting drinking a cafe au lait...even as a kid. Although back then it was mostly milk with a splash of coffee. It is a social time I enjoy. Personally, I like the more fancy pants sweet drinks and this coffee was a great afternoon cup. You could tasted the hints of brown sugar, caramel and even raisins. It wasn't overly sweet though, I did add sugar still and it paired great with some warm milk. Perfect for a cafe au lait!

If you aren't familiar with the term cafe au lait, it just means coffee with milk in french. It is coffee paired with hot milk though, not cold...that would be known as white coffee. Give it a try on your next cup and look for Community Coffee at your grocer or order it online here.

REVIEW: Beautiful - The Carole King Musical NOW Playing at The Smith Center and It's Some Kind of Wonderful

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Score: 5 out of 5

Beautiful – The Carole King Musical tells the Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom. At the age of 16, King became a part of the hit songwriting team with Gerry Goffin, whom she married. However, they weren't the only pair though...they became best friends with fellow writers Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, another dynamic pair.

The musical is centered on the lives of both King and Goffin as well as Weil and Mann. Their relationships are unveiled through the lyrics of the songs they wrote, which truly inspired and shaped a generation. I adored this musical not only because the singing was impeccable, but the soundtrack made you want to sing along. I loved discovering the story behind the lyrics of these ever popular songs and I know you will to. They were a staple in my household and I just belt out (can't sing a note though) "Natural Woman" anytime it comes on.

The set designs and changes are great and the orchestra was on point. The cast was no doubt a group of very talented singers. Many of them sounded just like the roles they were playing. For a moment there, I really thought I had The Shirelles singing "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" on stage. Julia Knitel plays Carole King in the show and her voice is impeccable.

As the show concludes it continues on King's journey to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history.

See Beautiful at The Smith Center from now through October 2nd – tickets starting at $29!
Great floor seats are available on September 27th - October 2nd!

Don't forget to enter our giveaway for a chance to win 2 tickets to the 9/28 show (2 winners)!
Contest ends 9/25.

The Angry Birds Movie Review

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Rating: 2 Stars (out of 5)

"The Angry Birds Movie" is not just about fowl, expect the "fowl" language too! The Angry Birds Movie opened nationwide May 20th.

How do you make a game app into a movie? Well, you try to come up with a storyline first and that is just one way this movie bombed (and that wasn't just Bomb voiced by Danny McBride). Screenwriter, Jon Vitti, tries to answer the question of "why are the birds so angry?" It is an attempt to give us a back story to the game. The storyline didn't hold much substance for most of the film. The action is there, just at the very end.

The all-star cast of voice actors didn't save this movie. I loved Chuck (voiced by Josh Gad) as a character, he was the funniest. But, the whole time in my head I had a hard time getting Olaf out of it. I guess that is the price he'll pay for voicing a popular character.

I really really wanted to love or even like this movie for my kids, we love the game and own a few angry birds plushes. But, I have a hard time looking past all the negatives. As a parent, my biggest frustration is that this movie was supposed to be aimed at kids and while many of them will enjoy it, I believe that the directors' attempt to also entertain the adult audience was at the kids' expense. The Angry Birds Movie crossed the line for me. I think they could have really had a hit on their hands if they had forgotten about trying to entertain adults too. It was disappointing as a fan of the franchise. This movie is being marketed to kids. There are toys abundant, happy meal toys, etc...yet, this movie seemed to forget at times that kids were watching it. It is rated PG for rude humor and action. And while personally, I appreciate kids movies that include adult connotations that we can also laugh at, I expect them to be innocent. That is not the case here as some of the scenes were shockingly inappropriate. The crude farting and peeing, I can handle...even though the urinating eagle did last longer than needed. As a mom of 4 boys (3, 8, 10, 10) I was really taken back at the "dancing nipple scene". Yes, you read that right...there is a scene with the pigs where a plunger gets stuck on their chest, so they add a second plunger and proceed to dance "sexy-like". This all takes place during an entertainment show the pigs produce and a mild strip scene by one of the pigs. There is even an unpleasant Peeping Tom scene in this movie.

What frustrated me the most as a parent was the "fowl" language. While there is no outright profanity, they did "curse" with bird-like language that sounded eerily familiar to the real thing. For example, FML - they said, "Pluck My Life!" and another was "I am very flocking angry"....or "shell yes" or "pluck you". WHOA! I thought, this can't be what I heard. But, yep...For the younger crowd, this will go over their heads and they'll be wrapped up in seeing their beloved angry birds in a very colorful film. However, for the older kids that may already be tempting to say things on the borderline of cursing, I believe this movie gave them a whole new set of phrases to try and use. One showing of the film may not produce this, but it certainly is not a movie we will be watching over and over once on Blu-Ray.

I was disappointed in the movie and really thought they could have done a better job. While, it isn't awful, it certainly wasn't what I expected. So, proceed with caution.

Disney's Zootopia Opens in Theaters Today (3/4) Trailer, Synopsis & Our Review

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Disney's Zootopia movie opens today, 3/4, in theaters nationwide. It is available in 3D and standard definitions.

Synopsis
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard whom directed “Tangled” and “Bolt” along with Rich Moore of “Wreck-It Ralph” and “The Simpsons”. It is co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”).

Voice Cast: Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Shakira, Idris Elba, J.K. Simmons, Nate Torrence, Jenny Slate, Tommy Chong, Octavia Spencer, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, Alan Tudyk, Tommy “Tiny” Lister, Raymond Persi, Katie Lowes, Jesse Corti, John DiMaggio

Our Review
Disney's Zootopia is a great movie for the entire family! I think it contains more comedy than any other Disney movie. But, it isn't all comedy. The comedy is located mostly in the front half of the movie, where as the back half is full of adventure and a bit more serious. There are so many adult jokes to keep you entertained alongside the kiddos. And if you are a Breaking Bad fan, then you'll love that there is a sequence scene with reference to the show. There are many other pop references too.

The animation was brilliantly done. I especially liked the attention to detail that is depicted in the city in regards to the animals taking on human-like qualities. The moral/lesson of the storyline is on point. They touch on the subjects of: dealing with a bully, race acceptance and breaking stereotypes. And in pure Disney fashion, they did an excellent job handling these more serious topics. I will say though there is a bit of scariness, so to speak, for younger kids in a few attack scenes when the animals give into their primal nature.

While I saw this in 3D, save your money...it isn't required for this film. There weren't many parts that just came out at you.

Andrea Bocelli NEW CD Release "Cinema"

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Andrea Bocelli NEW album "Cinema" is an amazing compilation from the international superstar celebrating some of the greatest classic movie/musical songs of all time. "Cinema" reunites Bocelli with a team of musical legends such as David Foster, Humberto Gatica and Tony Renis who worked together on the trailblazing success of Bocelli's "Amore". Cinema" released globally on October 23rd on Verve. Order your CD or MP3 here or on iTunes.

I had a chance to preview this album and it is amazing. I was already a fan of Andrea Bocelli and this album was a great collection of some of my favorite classic movie songs. "Cinema" track listing is comprised of songs from West Side Story, Evita and Phantom of the Opera as well as Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gladiator and Scent of a Woman. Andrea Bocelli partnered with superstar Ariana Grande for a duet ‘E Piu Ti Penso’ from Once Upon A Time in America  and Malena and Nicole Scherzinger on the anthem ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’ from Evita in Spanish. The album features songs in four languages: French, Spanish, Italian and English.

It is so great to hear his voice carry these tunes that you will recognize all so well and maybe...even sing along side of him while it is playing (I am guilty of this). He can hold the notes unlike no other.

The orchestral arrangements are brillantly done alongside his interpretation of the songs.

I love listening to albums like this while winding down in a much overdue/needed "mommy time out" a.k.a. bubble bath with a glass of wine!

Tracks List:
1. Maria (From West Side Story)
2. La chanson de Lara (From Dr. Zhivago)
3. Moon River (From Breakfast At Tiffany's)
4. E più ti penso (From Once Upon A Time In America)
5. Be My Love (From The Toast Of New Orleans)
6. The Music Of The Night (From The Phantom Of The Opera)
7. Por Una Cabeza (From Scent Of A Woman)
8. Sorridi amore vai (From Life Is Beautiful)
9. Mi mancherai (From Il Postino/The Postman)
10. Cheek To Cheek (From Top Hat)
11. Brucia la terra (From The Godfather)
12. No Llores Por Mi Argentina (From Evita)
13. Nelle tue mani (Now We Are Free) (From Gladiator)

Disclosure: I participated in the Andrea Bocelli “Cinema” album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided an album to review but all opinions are my own.

Master Lock 5900D SafeSpace Review - Guard Your Key Items On The Go

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Master Lock is here to help our belongings stay safe. You may have had a masterlock on your school locker or bicycle chain...but what about your luggage or a portable safe? They have you covered.

This summer while staycationing my Master Lock 5900D SafeSpace kept my belongings safe.
The SafeSpace is a small portable safe to store valuables like jewelry, cell phones, credit cards, ID/Passports, keys and even cash. Really anything of value that you want to lock up that fits.

This safe is very easy to use. Upon opening the box for the first time, you will be able to set a combination that suits you...ya know, something you can remember. It will be set to 0-0-0-0 with instructions that are easy to follow to change it. There is nothing I hate more than having to remember random codes, bc this busy mom tends to forget.
So, being able to customize the combination was great.

When your combination is displayed there are 2 arrow buttons that you will be able to click.
One is to open the safe and the other is to unlock the cord. They work independently of each other which is really helpful. The basic arrow pointed upwards opens and closes the SafeSpace, it locks your valuables in. The other arrow pointing sideways allows you to wrap the cord of the SafeSpace around an object therefore affixing it to it. Or you could just connect it openly and use it as a carrying handle. It weighs just over 1.5 lbs without your belongings, so easy to carry.

This came in handy at the water parks over the summer.
I was able to bypass spending the money on lockers because I had my own personal safe.
I placed my cards, ID, cash, keys and our cell phones into the SafeSpace, wrapped the cord around my beach bag and chair and tucked it away inside the beach bag. It is also water resistent, so that is a huge plus for places like waterparks, public pools or beaches. It also has a shock absorbant foam lining it to help your valuables stay in tact while you are transporting it.

This was a cheaper investment too since we went frequently to the water parks this summer.
It is great for playgrounds too...I found myself using this there with my diaper bag attached to a park bench. I was able to roam the park with the kids while my stuff was secure.
You can order one here from Amazon...it comes in pink, white or gunmetal gray - click below!

Rating: PG for scary and intense creature action and images, and for some rude humor

Review
Goosebumps was a very very good movie. I had heard through the rumor mill that some people were wondering about the scare level of this film for young kids. In my opinion, it was more of a comedy than it was a scary movie. I believe anyone of all ages would enjoy this movie.

My daughter read all of the books when she was in elementary school and even though she is in high school now she said she enjoyed the movie very much. The animation was also very well produced. It is a great movie for the Halloween season and a movie anyone will enjoy.

Strawberries & Cream - Duncan Hines Perfect Size
Strawberries & Cream - Duncan Hines Perfect Size
I am a baker at heart...I LOVE to bake! I am the girl that likes to follow a recipe, maybe that is why. I also don't do it all from scratch either. You can always find cake mix in my pantry. It is an easy go-to for any occassion. But, we've all been there...cake leftovers. I have the guilt...and so I eat another piece and the next day, and the next...waste not want not, is what I was taught. But, let's face it...I have been known to throw away cake. That is why I LOVE this new innovative
product from Duncan Hines; Perfect Size.

Duncan Hines Perfect Size cake mixes can be assembled in minutes and yet, the quality you've come to love from Duncan Hines isn't sacrificed. The cakes are just a serving size of two to four, making them perfect for just the 2 of you or just the kiddos. There are just times when you want a slice of cake, but sometimes a whole 9x9 or 8x8 cake is just too much. And clean up, they've simplyfied that too. This package contains a disposable 6-inch pan. They also include the frosting mix...yes, no need to grab that separate can of frosting. It's all there for you! Just add eggs, water and butter/oil - depending on the flavor selected.

We tested a few flavors and above is the Strawberries and Cream.
It was a quick add of ingredients and into the disposable pan.
It cooks in about 45 minutes, so I was able to come home and
make a cake for dessert in under an hour.

Duncan Hines has created Perfect Size cakes in five deliciously indulgent favors:
· Chocolate Lover’s – chocolate cake with chocolate frosting
· Red Velvet Dream – red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting
· Lemon Bliss – lemon cake with lemon frosting
· Strawberries and Cream – strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting

Duncan Hines Perfect Size cakes are coming to national grocery chains near you, keep your eyes peeled. For more information, go here.

NEW Del Taco Ensaladas Review & $20 Gift Card Giveaway

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Del Taco recently began offering new Handcrafted Ensaladas! Priced at just $5.49, these made to order salads are all under 600 calories. They will have you stopping in or driving-thru for a taste.
Choose from three delicious salads: Chicken Bacon Avocado Salad, Mexican Chopped Chicken Salad and/or Signature Taco Salad.

I recently had the opportunity to try these Ensalads from Del Taco and I was impressed.
I love salads, but I don't like to dish out over $10 for a handcrafted one. I also love Mexican food flare and the salad I used to be able to easily get at a drive-thru no longer exists. It left me without, longing for a replacement. I hadn't been able to fill that void until now.

Signature Taco Salad
My first try was the Signature Taco Salad. This salad features seasoned beef, freshly sliced Hass avocado, handmade pico de gallo salsa, cheddar cheese freshly grated from 40-pound blocks, chopped cilantro, seasoned black beans, fresh house-made tortilla chips, and real sour cream on a mix of fresh crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce. Served with salsa casera and only 540 calories.

Prefer ground turkey over beef? Just ask for it to be substituted!
Going veggie? No problem, just ask for your salad without meat.
I left out the cheese on mine...
This salad was so refreshing and crisp...like a taco. I loved that Del Taco includes a few chips too.
It was filling and the avocado was creamy. The dressing, salsa casera, has a bite to it, but it isn't too spicy. It balances out the flavors very well. I have finally found my salad, or so I thought...

Chicken Bacon Avocado
Then I tried the Chicken Bacon Avocado Salad. YUMMO...I can't pick just one favorite now.
This salad contains freshly grilled marinated chicken, fresh sliced Hass avocado, crispy hand-chopped bacon, handmade pico de gallo salsa, chopped cilantro, and fresh house-made tortilla chips atop a mix of fresh crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce. Served with new cilantro pepita ranch dressing and only 590 calories. Bacon people, bacon!!! This salad was delicious too. The cilantro pepita ranch dressing was creamy and and paired with the avocado, it was really decadent. It cut through the fat by the bacon and that saltyness was a great accompanment to the chicken. The crisp lettuce and juicy tomato rounded it all together.

Mexican Chopped Chicken Salad: includes a fresh blend of romaine and iceberg lettuce topped with fresh sliced Hass avocado, handmade pico de gallo salsa, chopped cilantro, fresh house-made tortilla chips, spicy jack cheese, seasoned black beans, and freshly grilled marinated chicken. Served with salsa casera and only 510 calories.

For a limited time, you can download a coupon for a FREE small drink with the purchase of a salad.

Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Complete Series Released on DVD Today (October 6, 2015) Review

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Nickelodeon's fan-favorite animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender released their complete series on an exclusive 16-disc special collection DVD today, October 6th, 2015. Get your copy here.
Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Complete Series contains all 61-original episodes that aired from 2005-2008, as well as hours of bonus features such as; "Behind the Scenes" and "Making Of..." featurettes, audio cast commentaries and more.

Avatar: The Last Airbender had its initial debut in February of 2005 as an animated comic adventure set in a fantastical Asian world. This epic story follows the journey of twelve-year-old Aang, a reluctant hero who must lead the fight against the evil Fire Nation to restore balance in his war-torn world. The world is divided into four nations: Water, Earth, Air and Fire. Within each nation is an order of masters who possess the ability to manipulate their native element. They call themselves Waterbenders, Earthbenders, Airbenders, and Firebenders. The most powerful bender in the world is the Avatar, the spirit of the planet incarnate.

My 3 older boys (10, 10, and 8) are fans of the show, Avatar: The Last Airbender. They had been watching reruns over the course of the last few years, as they were available to watch them. They were a little young when this series ran, so this collection was perfect for them since it is the complete series. There's nothing better than to be able to sit down and watch a show from beginning to end in sequence, if you ask me. It took them a few weeks to finish it though as there is so much programming available in this set, 1496 mintues, to be exact. If you have a fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender, I would recommend buying this complete series set. The extra bonus features are really neat and take the kids through the making of the show and gives them a glimpse of what it is like to make an animated series of this kind. If your child is into fantasy related animation shows and hasn't seen this series, I would recommend it.

Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro at The Palazzo Review

This post may contain affiliate links. Read the full disclosure.

Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro is the sister restaurant to swanky Morels at The Grove in Los Angeles. Sal Casola and Chipper Pastron opened the Las Vegas location at The Palazzo in 2008. Morels Las Vegas lives up to their reputation as well. Morels has a sophistacted atmosphere you'd find in a 4-star steakhouse, yet has a touch of playfulness displayed in their sensual artwork.

Upon entry, is a long hall where midway you'll be warmly greeted by the hostess. Through the doorway, you will come into the lounge and bar area. There is a patio area straight ahead which overlooks the Las Vegas Strip. Dining there could be a very special outdoor treat as you dine amongst the city lights. The bar is art deco and on the end cap you will find a fresh seafood station. Just to the right is the restaurant, but your eyes stop you in your tracks, as you make your way to your table you'll notice a station full of cheese! So many cheeses all labeled and you'll think, this is a French restaurant!!

Cheese Case
Also on the station, you will find an old fashioned hand cranked meat slicer where the chacuterie is prepared. Check out this cheese board!!!
Fromage Board
My husband and I ate here on a date night. Upon being sat, you will be handed a fromage/charcuterie menu alongside their wine list and regular menu. It didn't take but a few moments in our comfy plush chairs before we were greeted by our waiter. As the assistant poured the water into the glasses, our waiter explained the specials and took our drink orders. Morels owners have their own vineyard in Napa. Their wine selection, Vanishing Point, is key on their menu and what my husband ordered.

The thing that appealed to me the most was that the menu wasn't just full of French steakhouse fare. There was dishes like poke to housemade orechiette. I enjoyed the out of the box feeling much like the twist on their decor.

Dungeness Crab Meat Cocktail
We started the appetizer course with a Dungeness Crab Meat Cocktail. Piled in a round cylander shape, mixed with housemade mayo, celery and fresh tarragon accompanied by grilled crostinis. This was light and sweet. I loved that the mayo didn't take over the dish and you could taste the fresheness of the crab. While, we enjoyed our appetizer, I couldn't help but envy the table over's appetizer. They ordered the Grand Plateau de Mer, consisting of 1 Lobster, 8 Shrimp, 12 Oysters, Octopus Ceviche, ½ Dungeness Crab. Yep, ordering that next time! There is a smaller version as well if you are a smaller party.
Caesar Salad Prepared Tableside
Next up, we were treated to the most amazing caesar salad prepared tableside. There aren't too many restaurants where you can find this old school classic prepared by your waiter tableside any more. This was a perfect addition to the steakhouse nod. Your waiter is able to customize the dressing to your liking and ours was perfect! Not overdressed at all...
Caesar Salad
My husband ordered the 20oz. Bone-in Rib Eye Steak. The steak was deliciously cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a great steak, this one does not disappoint. It has a nice char and is seasoned well. As with most entrees, the sides are ordered separately. Per recommendation from our waiter we ordered the brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The brussel sprouts was so delicious. I am a brussel sprout fan first and foremost, but I typically enjoy them steamed. These were roasted and simply amazing. The mashed potatoes were no slouch either, made with organic grey sea salt, whole butter and milk. Cannot go wrong there! But, it didn't end...served on the table was a tray of salts; smoked, pink and himalayan. My husband became enamored with the smoked salt. You have to try it, if you haven't yet.
Bone-in Rib Eye Steak

As for me, I ordered the Pan Seared Scottish Salmon. It was tender and flaky. The mushrooms were earthy and gave a great balance to the dish. You'd expect that at a place named, Morels...

Pan Seared Scottish Salmon
Profiteroles
Classic French pastry profiteroles ended the night. The candied bits of almonds were a great add-on accompanied by a chocolate sauce. A great way to end a fabulous meal!

Whether you are looking for a date night, yummy French cuisine, breakfast, casual lunch or Sunday brunch; Morels at The Palazzo, 3325 S. Las Vegas Blvd., is a great choice for you.
You can visit their full list of menus here.
