Kristin Chenoweth: Some Lessons Learned is her newest CD, released on Septemeber 13th. I had an opportunity to review the cd. I thought it was amazing. I have Kristin Chenoweth: A Lovely Way To Spend Christmas and I LOVE that CD!!!
So, I would say that I am a fan of her voice for sure. I absolutely just LOVED her as April on Glee! I think that her voice is so unique. In this CD, Kristin explores some of her "Country Music Roots" as she was born and raised in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Chenoweth herself contributed two songs to this track: "What Would Dolly Do?" (my favorite), written in honor of her hero Dolly Parton. A line in the chorus says; "WW Double D"...LOL! and "Mine To Love," about a woman who struggles with an emotionally unavailable man. Personally, I also enjoyed the song "I Want Somebody (Bitch About)", this was her debut single. And of course she also covers a Dolly Parton's song, "Change", on this album.
Kristin says, "This album is more along the lines of what I grew up singing, like the music I sang in church in Oklahoma . When I was hired at nineteen to sing at Opryland in Nashville , that's what I wanted to do. I never anticipated my career going in all these great directions -- which I'm grateful for! I'm finally getting to do what I want."This is Chenoweth’s fourth album on Sony. Some of her major influences are Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire and Linda Ronstadt. Some Lessons Learned is the culmination of a natural progression for Chenoweth as a recording artist. All of the songs on Chenoweth’s new album are very personal and explore her life experiences as a woman.
I would recommend this cd if you are a Chenoweth fan or just a country music fan! You can get the album here on Amazon for just $9.99.
